Les Waite was voted the "2004 Best Artist" in the July 2004 Arkansas Times Poll.

The ballot for the "Best of Arkansas" was published in May 2004 and the results tabulated and published in the July issue.

This was Waite's first time to make a mark in the Best of poll, and Waite himself isn't entirely sure how his name basically jumped out of nowhere to become the top-vote-getter in the poll.

"I'm not sure," Waite said "I don't know what caused the name recognition."
